Pet Care Services in Stoney Creek | Loving Paws

You’ve got a Bernese who lives for the trail behind Fifty Point, and a work schedule that doesn’t leave room for a midday walk. Or maybe you’re heading out of town for a few days, and the idea of dropping your dog at a kennel, anxious, confused, surrounded by strangers, just doesn’t sit right. There’s a better way to handle it.

Loving Paws has been the better option for Hamilton pet owners since 2005.

Your Pet Never Leaves Home

Your pet stays on their own couch, in their own routine, with their own smells around them. For anxious dogs, senior cats, or any animal who struggles with change, that familiarity makes all the difference.

Trusted Local Caregivers

Every Loving Paws caregiver is background checked, bonded, insured, and certified through Pet Sitters International before they ever step through your door. After every visit, you get a photo update and an e-diary note so you’re never left wondering how things went.

Flexible, Stress-Free Booking

Whether it’s a midday walk on a packed Tuesday or overnight sitting while you’re away for a week, we fit into your schedule, not the other way around. Book online any time, day or night, with no phone tag and no waiting.

In-Home Pet Care That Fits Stoney Creek Life

Stoney Creek is a neighbourhood of space and movement. Bigger yards, conservation trails, waterfront access and pets who are used to all of it. The families here tend to have active, outdoor dogs and cats who’ve staked their claim on every sunny spot in the house. What they don’t need is a stressful kennel stay every time their owner travels or gets busy.

Loving Paws was founded by Amy Shannon Leclair and has spent nearly 20 years building a team that takes in-home pet care seriously. Our 15+ caregivers are background checked, insured, bonded, and certified through Pet Sitters International (PSI), the professional standard for the industry. With over 5,000 clients served and a 4.9/5 rating backed by 75+ reviews, we’ve earned the trust of Ontario pet owners one home visit at a time.

Your pet stays in your home. Their food, their bed, their routine, their familiar smells. No cage. No transition stress. No coming home to a dog who’s been off their food for three days. For pets managing separation anxiety or any kind of health condition, that stability is everything.

Services We Offer in Stoney Creek

Dog Walking

Consistent daily walks are what keep most dogs balanced, calm at home, easy to manage, and genuinely healthy. Our dog walkers work around your schedule, follow your pet’s usual routes and pace, and send you an update after every outing. Whether your dog needs a brisk 45-minute walk or a more relaxed neighbourhood loop, we match the service to the animal.

In-Home Dog Sitting & Puppy Sitting

We come to your home for daytime visits or overnight stays, no displacement, no adjustment, no drama. For puppies, in-home sitting means their routine stays intact right from the start. For dogs dealing with separation anxiety, it’s often the only approach that genuinely works. Medication administration and health monitoring are included as standard, not extras.

Cat Sitting

Cats are creatures of habit, and disrupting that habit even for a few days causes real stress. Our in-home cat sitters handle feeding, fresh water, litter maintenance, and meaningful interaction at every visit. Your cat stays exactly where they want to be: home, comfortable, and not counting down the minutes until you’re back.

Small Pet Sitting

Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, we sit for the full range of small pets. Each species has its own habitat, diet, and handling requirements, and our caregivers are trained to respect those needs. Your bearded dragon or guinea pig gets attentive, species-appropriate care, not just a quick check-in.

Medical Care

Post-op recovery, chronic illness management, and daily medication schedules, in-home medical pet care is one of the most practical services we offer. We follow your veterinarian’s instructions carefully, keep track of what’s been administered, and flag anything that concerns us. For Stoney Creek pet owners who can’t take weeks off after a surgery or diagnosis, this fills a genuine need.

Nail Trims

Done at home, in a space your pet already feels safe in. No waiting rooms, no unfamiliar handling, no unnecessary stress layered on top of the trim itself. Our caregivers use patient, low-pressure techniques that work especially well for anxious pets, older animals, or any pet who makes nail day at the vet a real production.

Virtual Veterinary Consultations

Some questions are too urgent to wait for a regular appointment, but don’t quite justify a trip to the emergency room. Our virtual vet service connects you with a licensed veterinarian for remote advice — fast, practical, and a lot less stressful than loading a nervous cat into a carrier for what turns out to be a straightforward question.

Puppy Training

Positive reinforcement only, no corrections, no dominance-based methods. We work on the foundations: sit, stay, recall, leash manners, and the kind of calm house behaviour that makes a puppy genuinely livable. Starting right in the first few months makes everything easier for both the dog and the family around them.

House Sitting

An empty house is obvious to anyone paying attention. Our house sitting service keeps your pet on their routine while also maintaining a real lived-in presence, mail collected, plants watered, lights on, and someone responsible on the property. For Stoney Creek families heading out for a week or longer, it’s the kind of coverage that lets you actually relax on your trip.

Why Stoney Creek Pet Owners Choose Loving Paws

There’s a difference between booking someone from a platform and hiring a real team with two decades of accountability behind them.

Every caregiver at Loving Paws is background checked before they step into a client’s home. They’re bonded and insured, and the business carries full coverage on top of that. If something goes wrong, you’re protected. That’s not guaranteed with independent sitters or app-based platforms, where accountability tends to disappear the moment a booking is confirmed.

Our Ready-Key program manages home access properly. Your key is logged into our secure system, assigned only to your designated caregiver, and stored responsibly between visits. No copies made, no confusion about who has it. When the service ends, it’s returned or held on file, whatever you prefer.

After every visit, you get a photo update and an e-diary note. How the walk went, what your dog ate, and how your cat was feeling. For pet owners who spend the workday distracted and checking their phone, that message is genuinely reassuring, and it’s built into every booking, not an optional upgrade.

Scheduling is available online, 24 hours a day. No phone tag, no waiting for someone to call back. And when you compare the cost to boarding or a pet hotel with no hidden fees for medication, multiple pets, or extra nights, Loving Paws is almost always the more practical choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does in-home pet sitting actually compare to boarding?

Boarding puts your pet in an unfamiliar facility with other animals, strange sounds, and a completely disrupted routine. In-home sitting means they stay in your house, on the same couch, same schedule, same everything, with a consistent caregiver. For anxious pets, senior animals, or any dog or cat who doesn’t do well with change, in-home care produces noticeably calmer results.

My dog has separation anxiety. Will in-home care actually help?

In most cases, yes, significantly. The main driver of separation anxiety is change: new environment, new people, unpredictable schedule. In-home sitting removes most of that. We also recommend a meet-and-greet before the first booking so your dog can get comfortable with their caregiver before you’re out the door.

Can you handle medication or post-surgery recovery?

Yes. Medication administration and post-op care are part of our standard offering for dog and cat sitting. We follow your vet’s instructions carefully, keep a log of what’s been given, and will contact you immediately if we notice anything that needs attention. You don’t need to arrange separate care for a medically complex pet.

How does the Ready-Key program work exactly?

You provide a key, and we log it into our secure system with your client file. It’s assigned to your designated caregiver only and never passed around informally. Between bookings, it’s stored securely, and when your service ends, the key is returned on request or held on file for your next booking, your choice entirely.

Is Loving Paws more expensive than a pet hotel?

Generally not and often less when you account for what’s included. There are no add-on fees for medication, multiple pets, or overnight stays. Beyond the direct cost, your pet comes home calm and on schedule rather than stressed, off their food, and needing a few days to recover from the kennel experience.

Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

Every caregiver is fully bonded and insured, and Loving Paws carries complete business coverage as well. This matters practically if there’s an accident, damage, or a health incident during a visit, you have real protection. That’s not something most independent sitters or booking platforms can offer.

How do I get started with a booking?

Through our website, anytime booking is available online 24/7. For first-time clients, we recommend a meet-and-greet visit so your pet can get acquainted with their caregiver before the actual service begins. After that, future bookings are quick and straightforward.

Do you cover the areas near Fifty Point Conservation Area and the lakefront in Stoney Creek?

Yes, we service Stoney Creek including the residential areas near the waterfront and conservation areas. If you want to confirm your specific address is within our coverage zone, just get in touch and we’ll sort it out right away.

Reasons to join our team and earn a good income

WE WORK HARD TO SUPPORT OUR DOG WALKERS, AND PET & HOUSE SITTERS

  • Work with us as one of our sub-contractors by driving to the homes of our clients to provide dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services.

  • The amount of work depends on the number of requests we receive from clients for our services, and that number keeps on growing as more and more pet parents and home owners learn of our services.

  • We diligently maintain our website and routinely work to ensure strong Web Search Engine Optimization so that our website appears top-most on web pages for search results.

  • Requests for our services come from clients who come to our website and submit quote or reservation requests. We then assign the work directly to you.

  • All work is paid, and we pay one of the pet care industry’s best rates for walking dogs, pet sitting, and house sitting.

  • No purchase of any “kit” is required to work for us. We do not charge any fee as a condition of working with us. We are not a pyramid-type organization.

  • There is much flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work is done, as long as the needs of our clients and their pets are met, and as long as what is paid for is done (we guarantee the duration of each visit, and that the visit will take place). Most clients are easy going about the services they need. Some clients are more specific; e.g. if their pet needs medication.

  • Aside from a computer with internet access, cell phone, and a vehicle that you need to work with us, we provide everything else you need to do the work, and for free: our admin software tool, access to our database, personalized email address, your insurance coverage and bonding, all the necessary printed materials, a professional binder for all documents, 4 handbooks covering medical care, procedures, and policies topics, and brochures/posters for networking.

  • We generally sponsor one major pet-related event annually; e.g. Pet Expo, and expect you will attend with us.

  • We put you in touch with new clients after they accept our quotes or existing clients after they reserve our services. Essentially, we pre-screen each assignment request to ensure it is valid before asking you to decide whether or not you want to take it on.

  • You can reduce your taxable income on your annual income tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency by claiming eligible expenses for working as a sub-contractor, for using space where you live for office / admin work, and for using your vehicle for work.
  • We provide service every day of the year, especially on weekends and holidays when people tend to go away, and we pay 1.5X the normal rate for work done on a holiday.

  • You will interact with kind, animal-loving people who will appreciate and welcome the services you will provide, and who will trust you with their homes, belongings and their living pet(s).

  • You will have a territory and only be expected to drive to the homes of clients who live within typically 15-km from your home. We pay extra if you need to drive further (unless you agree to a larger territory when you join our team).

  • Walking dogs leads to getting exercise and the fresh are is as good for you as it is for the dogs; count on your health improving and not being stuck in a windowless office cubicle.

  • You will be pleasantly greeted at front doors by many pets that will be happy to see you and to also give you lots of unconditional love, affection and attention in return for just enough simple food and water, and all the play time and TLC you can afford.

  • You will experience improvements to your stress levels … numerous studies show that spending time with animals is relaxing and beneficial to human health.

  • You will learn about pet health and what it takes to become one of the region’s most respected, professional pet sitters.

  • You will have the opportunity to grow with us … we are increasingly called upon for our dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services. We provided our services to thousands of clients in the greater Ottawa region since 2005 and in Mississauga since 2012. Our goal is to reach more and more communities as we move forward.

  • We work on a very personalized level and are always available. We answer questions and solve problems quickly, and we invite suggestions for change and improvement regularly.

  • We have clear and concise policies and procedures so you will never have to guess about what you should or should not do.

  • We provide 4 detailed Orientation, Emergency, Procedures, and Policies Handbooks. Job shadowing and we continues with on-the-job coaching and accessibility.

  • We provide continuing education opportunities relating to all areas of the pet care industry.

If you love interacting with and giving care to animals …
we and our clients … and their pets … can’t wait to hear from you.
