Pet Care Services in Port Credit | Loving Paws

You’ve got a 7 a.m. lakefront walk planned, the GO train to catch, and a dog who’s already pacing by the door. Or maybe you’re heading out of town for a long weekend, and your cat’s giving you the side-eye from the windowsill. Port Credit pet owners need someone reliable who can step in without missing a beat.

Your Pet Stays Home, On Routine

In-home pet care in Port Credit keeps your dog or cat on their own schedule — no kennel drop-off, no unfamiliar facility, no disruption to the routine they depend on.

Certified Team for Every Service

Walking, sitting, medical care, nail trims, and training in Port Credit — all from PSI-certified, insured, bonded caregivers who know your pet by name and by habit.

Every Visit Documented in Detail

Photo updates and e-diary notes after each session cover feeding, medication, behaviour, and health — a complete care record.

In-Home Pet Care That Fits Port Credit Life

Port Credit moves on its own rhythm. Condo towers along Lakeshore, heritage homes tucked behind St. Lawrence Park, dog owners doing morning loops around the harbour, and plenty of commuters splitting time between Mississauga and downtown Toronto. It’s a neighbourhood that loves its pets but doesn’t always have the hours in the day.

That’s where Loving Paws comes in. We’ve been caring for Ontario pets in their own homes since 2005, with a Mississauga team that knows the waterfront, the side streets, and how to time a walk around rush-hour traffic on Hurontario.

Our 15+ caregivers are Pet Sitters International (PSI) certified, background-checked, bonded, and fully insured. We’ve looked after more than 5,000 pets across Hamilton, Mississauga, and Ottawa, with a 4.9/5 rating from 75+ reviews. In-home care means no kennels, no strange smells, no anxious car ride. Your pet stays in their own space, on their normal routine, while you handle whatever the day requires.

Services We Offer in Port Credit

Dog Walking

Looking for a dog walker in Port Credit who actually shows up on time? We do daily walks built around your dog’s pace, whether that’s a long stretch along the waterfront trail past the lighthouse or a quiet loop near J.C. Saddington Park. Good for working pet parents, condo dwellers, and any dog who needs more than a quick backyard break.

In-Home Dog Sitting & Puppy Sitting

When you travel, we stay. Overnight or daytime in-home dog sitting means your dog or puppy keeps their bed, their food, and their schedule. We handle medication, separation anxiety, potty breaks, and playtime, all the things you’d do yourself if you were home.

Cat Sitting

Cats hate disruption. Our local cat sitters come to your home for feeding, fresh water, litter maintenance, and proper enrichment, not just a five-minute drop-in. A great fit for condo cats in the waterfront highrises and anyone whose cat refuses to acknowledge a carrier exists.

Small Pet Sitting

Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, we look after them all. That means habitat cleaning, species-appropriate feeding, temperature checks for reptiles, and the gentle handling small pets need. If your vet would approve, so will we.

Medical Care

Post-op recovery, senior pets on multiple medications, chronic conditions, we’ve handled it. Our caregivers follow your vet’s instructions exactly, track symptoms in our e-diary, and flag anything unusual. It’s the kind of medical pet care that takes the worry out of leaving a recovering animal at home.

Nail Trims

Nail trims at the clinic stress out a lot of dogs and cats. We do them in your home using a low-stress, go-at-their-pace technique, often while your pet is relaxed on the couch. Quiet, quick, and far easier on anxious animals.

Virtual Veterinary Consultations

Not every concern needs a clinic visit. Our virtual vet service connects you with licensed Ontario veterinarians for advice on minor symptoms, behaviour questions, or post-op follow-ups. Useful on weekends, holidays, or those late nights when you’re not sure whether something can wait until morning.

Puppy Training

We use positive reinforcement to build the basics: name recognition, leash manners, crate comfort, sit and stay, and early socialization. In-home sessions mean your puppy learns in the environment they actually live in, which sticks better than anything picked up in a busy group class.

House Sitting

Heading away for a week? Our house sitter service in Mississauga combines full pet care with home-watch basics like mail and parcel collection, plant watering, alternating lights, and a visible presence so your place doesn’t sit empty. One trusted person handling both your pets and your home while you’re gone.

Why Port Credit Pet Owners Choose Loving Paws

The biggest thing people tell us is they’re done with the app-based gamble. You shouldn’t have to wonder who’s walking up your front step or whether they’ve ever handled a reactive dog. Our caregivers are employees we know personally, background-checked, bonded, and fully insured. No grey zone, no strangers from a marketplace.

Our Ready-Key program handles home access the right way. Keys are logged, tracked, and stored securely, so the same trusted caregiver can let themselves in for every visit without an awkward key swap every time you travel.

After every visit, you get photo updates and an e-diary note. What your dog ate, how the walk went, and whether your cat finally came out from under the bed. It’s the small stuff that makes a real difference when you’re away.

Booking runs online 24/7, so you can lock in a last-minute walk at 11 p.m. without leaving a voicemail. And compared to pet hotels and boarding kennels, especially for multi-pet households, our pricing usually comes out competitive or better, with none of the boarding stress.

Twenty years in, we still treat every pet like the only one on our schedule. That’s the part that doesn’t show up on a spec sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does in-home pet sitting work compared to boarding?

Instead of dropping your pet at a facility, we come to your home on a schedule that matches their normal routine. They stay in familiar surroundings, sleep in their own bed, and eat the same food, which removes most of the stress that comes with boarding. We handle feeding, walks, play, medication, and home check-ins, then send photo updates so you can see how they’re doing.

Do you work with anxious or rescue animals?

Yes, separation anxiety and rescue animals are a big part of what we do. We move slowly, follow your pet’s lead, and stick to whatever calm-down routines already work at home. A lot of our clients came to us specifically because their rescue dog couldn’t handle a kennel.

Can you administer medication and handle post-op recovery?

Absolutely. Our PSI-certified caregivers are trained in medication administration, including pills, liquids, topical treatments, and injections like insulin, plus post-op care. We follow your vet’s instructions exactly and log everything in your e-diary for a clear record.

How does the Ready-Key program work?

Ready-Key is our secure home-access system. We collect your key, label, and store it under a coded system, and assign it only to your designated caregiver. It means no last-minute key handoffs every time you travel, and your home access stays accountable and tracked.

How does your pricing compare to pet hotels or boarding kennels?

In most cases, our in-home service is competitive with or more affordable than boarding, especially if you have more than one pet. Boarding usually charges per pet, per night, while we care for your whole household in one visit. You also skip the drop-off and pick-up routine entirely.

Are your caregivers actually insured and bonded?

Yes, fully. Every caregiver on our team is background-checked, bonded, and insured under our company policy, not relying on a gig-platform’s coverage. It’s a proper safeguard if anything ever goes sideways.

How do I book a visit?

Online, anytime. Our booking system runs 24/7, so you can request visits whenever you remember, including at midnight before a trip. We confirm quickly and match you with a regular caregiver so your pet sees the same familiar face.

Do you cover the waterfront condos and Lakeshore Road part of Port Credit?

Yes, we serve all of Port Credit, from the lakefront condos near the marina and Memorial Park up through the residential streets north of Lakeshore. If you’re unsure whether your building or block is in our service zone, send us your postal code, and we’ll confirm right away.

Reasons to join our team and earn a good income

WE WORK HARD TO SUPPORT OUR DOG WALKERS, AND PET & HOUSE SITTERS

  • Work with us as one of our sub-contractors by driving to the homes of our clients to provide dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services.

  • The amount of work depends on the number of requests we receive from clients for our services, and that number keeps on growing as more and more pet parents and home owners learn of our services.

  • We diligently maintain our website and routinely work to ensure strong Web Search Engine Optimization so that our website appears top-most on web pages for search results.

  • Requests for our services come from clients who come to our website and submit quote or reservation requests. We then assign the work directly to you.

  • All work is paid, and we pay one of the pet care industry’s best rates for walking dogs, pet sitting, and house sitting.

  • No purchase of any “kit” is required to work for us. We do not charge any fee as a condition of working with us. We are not a pyramid-type organization.

  • There is much flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work is done, as long as the needs of our clients and their pets are met, and as long as what is paid for is done (we guarantee the duration of each visit, and that the visit will take place). Most clients are easy going about the services they need. Some clients are more specific; e.g. if their pet needs medication.

  • Aside from a computer with internet access, cell phone, and a vehicle that you need to work with us, we provide everything else you need to do the work, and for free: our admin software tool, access to our database, personalized email address, your insurance coverage and bonding, all the necessary printed materials, a professional binder for all documents, 4 handbooks covering medical care, procedures, and policies topics, and brochures/posters for networking.

  • We generally sponsor one major pet-related event annually; e.g. Pet Expo, and expect you will attend with us.

  • We put you in touch with new clients after they accept our quotes or existing clients after they reserve our services. Essentially, we pre-screen each assignment request to ensure it is valid before asking you to decide whether or not you want to take it on.

  • You can reduce your taxable income on your annual income tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency by claiming eligible expenses for working as a sub-contractor, for using space where you live for office / admin work, and for using your vehicle for work.
  • We provide service every day of the year, especially on weekends and holidays when people tend to go away, and we pay 1.5X the normal rate for work done on a holiday.

  • You will interact with kind, animal-loving people who will appreciate and welcome the services you will provide, and who will trust you with their homes, belongings and their living pet(s).

  • You will have a territory and only be expected to drive to the homes of clients who live within typically 15-km from your home. We pay extra if you need to drive further (unless you agree to a larger territory when you join our team).

  • Walking dogs leads to getting exercise and the fresh are is as good for you as it is for the dogs; count on your health improving and not being stuck in a windowless office cubicle.

  • You will be pleasantly greeted at front doors by many pets that will be happy to see you and to also give you lots of unconditional love, affection and attention in return for just enough simple food and water, and all the play time and TLC you can afford.

  • You will experience improvements to your stress levels … numerous studies show that spending time with animals is relaxing and beneficial to human health.

  • You will learn about pet health and what it takes to become one of the region’s most respected, professional pet sitters.

  • You will have the opportunity to grow with us … we are increasingly called upon for our dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services. We provided our services to thousands of clients in the greater Ottawa region since 2005 and in Mississauga since 2012. Our goal is to reach more and more communities as we move forward.

  • We work on a very personalized level and are always available. We answer questions and solve problems quickly, and we invite suggestions for change and improvement regularly.

  • We have clear and concise policies and procedures so you will never have to guess about what you should or should not do.

  • We provide 4 detailed Orientation, Emergency, Procedures, and Policies Handbooks. Job shadowing and we continues with on-the-job coaching and accessibility.

  • We provide continuing education opportunities relating to all areas of the pet care industry.

If you love interacting with and giving care to animals …
we and our clients … and their pets … can’t wait to hear from you.
