House Sitting Service in Brampton | Loving Paws

You’re two days into a vacation, and the worry starts. Did the mail pile up by the front door? Are the plants getting water? Is the house sitting dark every night, signalling to the whole street that nobody’s home? For homeowners across Brampton, leaving a property empty during a trip creates a low-grade stress that follows you the entire time you’re away.

Loving Paws provides professional house sitting that keeps your home maintained, secure, and lived-in while you’re gone.

Trusted Hamilton In-Home Sitting

Our in-home cat sitters keep them anchored in their environment, that sunny windowsill overlooking Cootes Paradise, the favorite perch watching birds near the Dundas Valley trails, the cozy spot beside your radiator in a Glanbrook farmhouse.

Same cat sitter, Every Visit

Your cat doesn’t meet a different stranger each time. We assign one dedicated sitter who learns your cat’s personality, preferences, and quirks. They become the familiar face your cat associates with feeding time and play sessions.

Expert Medical Support

Certified sitters manage medications, chronic conditions, and post-surgery care with precise monitoring. Our caregivers document every medication dose, observe for adverse reactions, recognize distress signals early, and reach out immediately when concerns surface.

Why an Empty House Is a Bigger Problem Than You Think

An unoccupied home tells a story, and not a good one. Mail is stacking up in the box. Flyers piling on the porch. No lights cycling in the evening. No car in the driveway. In Brampton’s residential neighbourhoods, from Bramalea to Springdale to Credit Valley, these signals are visible to anyone paying attention.

House sitting is more than a security measure. It’s the maintenance layer that keeps a home running while the owner is away. Plants need watering on schedule, not when you get back and find them wilted. Mail needs to be collected daily, not just for appearance, but because sensitive documents left in a mailbox for two weeks pose a real risk. In winter, someone needs to confirm the furnace is running, pipes aren’t freezing, and the driveway isn’t buried under snow that hardens into ice. In summer, the concern shifts to making sure the air conditioning is functioning and that no water leaks go unnoticed in the heat.

After 21 years in the pet care and home services field, we’ve learned that the homeowners who worry most during trips are the ones who didn’t arrange proper house sitting before they left. The ones who did almost always came back to a home that looked and felt exactly as they had left it. That difference is worth more than most people realize until they’ve experienced it both ways.

What we see often in Brampton’s newer subdivisions is families leaving for two or three weeks during the summer, especially around school holidays, with no plan beyond asking a neighbour to grab the mail. The neighbour does it for a few days, then forgets. The flyers pile up. A package sits on the porch in the rain. The house looks empty from the street. A proper house sitting schedule prevents all of that from the first day you leave to the day you walk back through the door.

How House Sitting Works with Loving Paws

The process starts with a meet-and-greet at your home. For $22, one of our caregivers spends 30 to 45 minutes going through your property, learning your specific needs, and collecting all the details: which plants get watered and when, where the mail accumulates, how your security system works, where the thermostat is set, and any other tasks you need covered. We also set up secure access through our Ready-Key program and collect your emergency contacts.

During your absence, your caregiver visits on the schedule you’ve set. A 15-minute security check is $16.50 and covers a walk-through of the property, mail collection, and a visual check on everything from the furnace to the basement to the front entrance. A standard 30-minute visit at $22 adds tasks like plant watering, light rotation, opening and closing blinds, and a more thorough interior check. For homes that need more attention, extended 45-minute visits are $30.25 and premium 60-minute visits are $38.50, covering larger properties or homes with more complex needs like pool equipment monitoring or garden maintenance.

After each visit, you receive an update with notes on the condition of the property and any issues flagged. If something comes up between visits, a burst pipe, a power outage, or a package delivery that needs securing, you hear about it right away. Holiday visits are billed at 1.5 times the regular rate, and early or late visits outside 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. carry an $11 surcharge. Last-minute bookings are $22.

Our team of 15-plus caregivers is structured so the same person handles your home consistently throughout your trip. They get to know the property, the routines, and the details that matter. If your regular caregiver is unavailable on a specific day, a briefed backup steps in so there’s never a coverage gap.

One detail that catches many Brampton homeowners off guard is how quickly a house shows signs of vacancy in winter. Snow accumulates on the walkway, the porch goes unshovelled, and the whole property looks unattended within 48 hours of a storm. Our caregivers monitor conditions and flag anything that makes the home look empty, so the property stays presentable throughout your trip.

Services That Pair Naturally with House Sitting in Brampton

Cat Sitting

Most of the homes we house-sit in Brampton also have a cat or two that need care while the owner is away. Combining house sitting with cat sitting means one caregiver handles both your property and your pet in the same visit. Cat sitting visits cover feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, and time spent checking on your cat’s condition. A single daily cat visit of 15 minutes is $16.50, and two daily visits of 30 minutes each are $22 per visit. Because the caregiver is already in your home for the house sitting check, the cat gets consistent, familiar attention without a separate appointment.

Dog and Puppy Sitting

For homeowners with dogs, house sitting and dog sitting run together naturally. The caregiver who checks on your home also handles your dog’s feeding, bathroom breaks, medication, and companionship. Daily dog sitting visits start at $22 for 30 minutes, two visits per day are $38.50, and overnight stays are $82.50. Combining both services means your home stays secure and your dog stays on their normal routine, all through one coordinated caregiver.

Small Pet Sitting

Multi-pet households in Brampton often include small animals alongside cats or dogs. Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and reptiles all need daily attention while you’re travelling, and adding small pet care to a house sitting visit keeps everything under one schedule. A 30-minute small pet visit is $22, and additional small animals add just $2.20 each per visit. The same caregiver handles your home, your pets, and everything in between.

Why Choose Loving Paws for House Sitting in Brampton

Loving Paws has been operating since 2005. Over 21 years and more than 5,000 clients, we’ve built a 4.9 out of 5 average rating from over 75 reviews. That track record comes from doing the straightforward things well: showing up on time, following the checklist, communicating clearly, and treating every home the way we’d treat our own.

Trusting someone with your house key while you’re away is a real decision. Every caregiver on our team is background checked, bonded, and insured, and all of them follow Pet Sitters International standards. Our Ready-Key program manages home access securely, and there’s a protocol in place for every situation, from a minor plumbing issue to a power outage during a January cold snap. Emergency vet trips for pets in our care are covered at $22 if something happens during a visit.

The biggest frustration we hear from homeowners who’ve tried informal arrangements is inconsistency. The neighbour who said they’d check in forgets after the third day. The friend who offered to water the plants doesn’t follow through on the schedule. Professional house sitting solves that by putting someone accountable on a fixed schedule with notes and updates after every visit.

Communication is built into the service. You receive updates after each visit detailing what was done, what condition the property is in, and anything that needs your attention. The pricing we quote is the pricing you pay, confirmed before you book, with no surprise charges when you get home. You book through our 24/7 online system and adjust the schedule as needed.

Common Questions About House Sitting in Brampton

Do you provide house sitting across all of Brampton?

We serve Brampton’s major neighbourhoods, including Bramalea, Downtown Brampton, Springdale, Mount Pleasant, Fletcher’s Meadow, Credit Valley, and Heart Lake. Our caregivers are routed by area to keep visits on schedule.

What does a typical house-sitting visit include?

Each visit includes a walk-through of the property, mail collection, plant watering, light and blind management, and a check on heating, cooling, and plumbing. You receive a written update after every visit with notes on the home’s condition and any issues flagged.

How often should I schedule house-sitting visits?

For most trips, a daily visit keeps the home maintained and looking occupied. For shorter trips of two to three days, visits every other day may be enough. In winter, daily visits are strongly recommended to monitor the furnace and watch for weather-related issues.

What does house sitting cost in Brampton?

A 15-minute security check is $16.50. A standard 30-minute visit is $22. Extended 45-minute visits are $30.25, and premium 60-minute visits for larger properties are $38.50. Holiday visits are 1.5 times the regular rate.

Are your house sitters bonded, insured, and background checked?

Every caregiver on our team is background checked, bonded, and insured. We follow Pet Sitters International standards, and our Ready-Key program handles home access securely so there’s no key under the mat or lockbox code shared loosely.

Can house sitting be combined with pet care?

Yes, and most of our Brampton clients do exactly that. The same caregiver handles your home and your pets in one coordinated visit, covering cat sitting, dog sitting, or small animal care alongside the property check.

How do I get started with house sitting?

Book a meet-and-greet through our 24/7 online system. A caregiver visits your home for 30 to 45 minutes to walk through the property and set up the visit plan. The meet-and-greet is $22, and visits can be scheduled as soon as you’re ready.

What happens if something goes wrong at my house during my trip?

If your caregiver finds an issue during a visit, whether it’s a water leak, a furnace malfunction, or a broken window, you’re notified immediately with details and options. We carry full insurance, and our team is trained to respond to property issues with the same urgency as pet emergencies.

I’m away for three weeks in January. Will your sitter handle the snow and cold weather concerns?

Winter house sitting includes monitoring furnace operation, checking for frozen or burst pipes, and flagging any snow or ice accumulation that makes the property look unoccupied. If conditions change between visits, we adjust the schedule to make sure the home stays maintained and safe throughout your trip.

If your Brampton home needs someone reliable while you’re away, book a meet-and-greet online, and we’ll walk through the property together before your trip.

Reasons to join our team and earn a good income

WE WORK HARD TO SUPPORT OUR DOG WALKERS, AND PET & HOUSE SITTERS

  • Work with us as one of our sub-contractors by driving to the homes of our clients to provide dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services.

  • The amount of work depends on the number of requests we receive from clients for our services, and that number keeps on growing as more and more pet parents and home owners learn of our services.

  • We diligently maintain our website and routinely work to ensure strong Web Search Engine Optimization so that our website appears top-most on web pages for search results.

  • Requests for our services come from clients who come to our website and submit quote or reservation requests. We then assign the work directly to you.

  • All work is paid, and we pay one of the pet care industry’s best rates for walking dogs, pet sitting, and house sitting.

  • No purchase of any “kit” is required to work for us. We do not charge any fee as a condition of working with us. We are not a pyramid-type organization.

  • There is much flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work is done, as long as the needs of our clients and their pets are met, and as long as what is paid for is done (we guarantee the duration of each visit, and that the visit will take place). Most clients are easy going about the services they need. Some clients are more specific; e.g. if their pet needs medication.

  • Aside from a computer with internet access, cell phone, and a vehicle that you need to work with us, we provide everything else you need to do the work, and for free: our admin software tool, access to our database, personalized email address, your insurance coverage and bonding, all the necessary printed materials, a professional binder for all documents, 4 handbooks covering medical care, procedures, and policies topics, and brochures/posters for networking.

  • We generally sponsor one major pet-related event annually; e.g. Pet Expo, and expect you will attend with us.

  • We put you in touch with new clients after they accept our quotes or existing clients after they reserve our services. Essentially, we pre-screen each assignment request to ensure it is valid before asking you to decide whether or not you want to take it on.

  • You can reduce your taxable income on your annual income tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency by claiming eligible expenses for working as a sub-contractor, for using space where you live for office / admin work, and for using your vehicle for work.
  • We provide service every day of the year, especially on weekends and holidays when people tend to go away, and we pay 1.5X the normal rate for work done on a holiday.

  • You will interact with kind, animal-loving people who will appreciate and welcome the services you will provide, and who will trust you with their homes, belongings and their living pet(s).

  • You will have a territory and only be expected to drive to the homes of clients who live within typically 15-km from your home. We pay extra if you need to drive further (unless you agree to a larger territory when you join our team).

  • Walking dogs leads to getting exercise and the fresh are is as good for you as it is for the dogs; count on your health improving and not being stuck in a windowless office cubicle.

  • You will be pleasantly greeted at front doors by many pets that will be happy to see you and to also give you lots of unconditional love, affection and attention in return for just enough simple food and water, and all the play time and TLC you can afford.
