Pet Care Services in Crown Point | Loving Paws

Saturday morning, Gage Park is buzzing — dogs chasing each other across the grass, owners clutching their Tims, everyone pretending they’re not running ten minutes behind. But Monday hits, and suddenly your pup is staring at the door while you head off to work. If you live in Crown Point and your pet spends more hours alone than either of you would like, there’s a better way to handle it.

That’s exactly why Crown Point pet owners have been calling Loving Paws.

Your Pet Stays Home

No kennels, no carriers, no unfamiliar animals. Your pet keeps their routine, their space, and their favourite spots — with a caregiver who comes to them.

One Caregiver Who Knows Your Pet

Same person every visit, someone who learns your pet’s quirks, triggers, and medication needs — not a random match from an app refreshing every week.

Every Visit Is Documented

Photo updates and e-diary notes after each session give you a clear record of how your pet is doing — useful for you and easy to share with your vet.

In-Home Pet Care That Fits Crown Point Life

Crown Point has changed a lot over the past decade. The creative energy around the Ottawa Street corridor, the young families moving into the side streets south of Barton, the artists and makers setting up shop in spaces like The Cotton Factory, it’s a neighbourhood that’s found its stride. And with that, growth has come a whole lot of pets.

Loving Paws provides professional in-home pet care right here in Crown Point. Instead of dropping your dog at a boarding facility across town, one of our caregivers comes to your home. Your pet stays in their own space, on their own schedule, surrounded by everything familiar. It’s less stressful for them and a lot less guilt for you.

We’ve been doing this since 2005, over twenty years of caring for pets across Ontario. Our team of 15+ caregivers is all certified through Pet Sitters International, fully insured and bonded, and background-checked before they ever step into a client’s home. More than 5,000 families across Hamilton, Mississauga, and Ottawa trust us with their animals, and we carry a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 75+ reviews. That kind of track record doesn’t happen by accident.

Services We Offer in Crown Point

Dog Walking

A good walk isn’t just a bathroom break; it’s exercise, mental stimulation, and the highlight of your dog’s day. Our walkers know the Crown Point streets well. Whether it’s a brisk route through the tree-lined blocks near Gage Park or a longer outing for a high-energy breed, we match the walk to your dog’s needs. Rain, snow, or July heat, we show up.

In-Home Dog Sitting & Puppy Sitting

Going away for the weekend? Working late all week? Our in-home dog sitters stay at your place, overnight or during the day, and keep everything running smoothly. Feeding, walks, playtime, and medication if your dog needs it. Puppies get the extra attention they demand, including crate support and those 2 a.m. outings. If your dog deals with separation anxiety, our sitters use calm, consistent techniques to keep them settled.

Cat Sitting

Cats want their routine, their territory, and their favourite sunbeam, not a carrier ride to a strange house. A local cat sitter from our team visits your home to handle feeding, litter maintenance, fresh water, and real interactive play. For indoor cats in Crown Point’s older homes and apartments, that kind of enrichment matters.

Small Pet Sitting

Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, they all have specific care needs that go beyond filling a dish. Our caregivers know proper handling, habitat maintenance, and feeding routines for small and exotic pets. Your animal gets knowledgeable, attentive care while you’re away.

Medical Pet Care

Post-surgery recovery, chronic conditions, and daily medication schedules, we handle it. Our caregivers administer oral and topical medications, track symptoms, and keep detailed logs so your vet has accurate information. Recovering at home, in a familiar environment, helps pets heal faster and with less anxiety.

Nail Trims

If your dog turns into a drama queen at the groomer’s, an in-home nail trim changes everything. We come to your pet, use low-stress techniques, and work at their pace. No car ride, no waiting room, no meltdown. Available for dogs and cats.

Virtual Veterinary Consultations

Wondering if that weird lump is something to worry about, or whether your cat’s new scratching habit needs attention? Our virtual vet service connects you with a licensed veterinarian by video. It’s fast, convenient, and saves you an unnecessary trip to the clinic when a quick professional opinion is all you need.

Puppy Training

Good behaviour starts with good foundations. Our puppy training is one-on-one, in your home, using positive reinforcement methods, rewards, not punishment. We work on house training, leash skills, basic commands, and socialization. Training where your puppy actually lives means the lessons stick.

House Sitting

Heading out of town and want your home looked after too? Our house sitters move in. They care for your pets around the clock while collecting your mail, watering your plants, and keeping a visible presence in your home. For Crown Point homeowners, especially those on quieter residential streets, knowing someone trusted is there makes all the difference. It’s pet care and home security in one service.

Why Crown Point Pet Owners Choose Loving Paws

Here’s the thing about app-based pet sitting platforms: you don’t really know who’s showing up. It might be someone great. It might be someone who signed up last Tuesday and has never handled a dog with fear aggression. You’re rolling the dice every time.

With Loving Paws, you get a dedicated, consistent caregiver, someone who learns your pet’s name, personality, and quirks. Someone who knows that your terrier mix bolts if the front door opens too wide, or that your senior cat needs her thyroid pill crushed into wet food. That kind of care only comes from real relationships, not algorithms.

After every visit, you get photo updates and e-diary notes, a real record of how your pet’s day went, not a one-line text that says “all good.” You see what happened, and you can share those notes with your vet if needed.

Our Ready-Key program gives your caregiver secure, authorized access to your home. No hidden keys under the mat, no lockbox codes shared around. It’s a tracked, accountable system that protects both your home and your peace of mind.

Every caregiver is background-checked, bonded, insured, and PSI-certified. Booking takes minutes through our 24/7 online system, no phone tag, no waiting until Monday. And our pricing sits competitively with boarding facilities and pet hotels, except your pet gets to stay home with personal, one-on-one attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is in-home pet sitting different from boarding?

With boarding, your pet goes to an unfamiliar facility and shares space with other animals. With in-home sitting, our caregiver comes to your house. Your pet keeps their routine, sleeps in their own bed, and avoids the stress of a new environment. It’s especially helpful for anxious pets, seniors, and cats who don’t travel well.

Can you work with rescue dogs or pets that have anxiety?

Yes — this is one of our strengths. Our team has extensive experience with separation anxiety, fear-based behaviour, and the specific challenges rescue animals often bring. We take a patient, consistent approach and never rush an animal past their comfort level.

What if my pet needs medication while I’m away?

Our caregivers are trained to administer oral and topical medications and to follow post-operative recovery plans. We log every dose and any changes in your pet’s behaviour or condition, so you and your vet stay fully informed.

How does the Ready-Key program work?

Instead of leaving a spare key under the doormat or in a lockbox, we manage your key through a secure, documented process. Access is limited to your assigned caregiver, and every key is tracked. It’s a system built on accountability and trust.

How does your pricing compare to boarding or pet hotels?

We’re competitively priced with most boarding options in Hamilton — often comparable, sometimes less. The real difference is value: your pet gets dedicated, individual care in their own home instead of a shared kennel. Most clients find it’s a better experience at a similar cost.

Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

Every single one. All of our team members are fully insured, bonded, background-checked, and certified through Pet Sitters International. We’ve maintained this standard since we started in 2005. There’s no grey area with us.

How do I book a pet sitter in Crown Point?

Head to our website and use the 24/7 online booking system. Choose your service, select your dates, and we’ll match you with the right caregiver. It takes just a few minutes, and you’ll hear back from us quickly.

Do you cover the Gage Park and Ottawa Street areas of Crown Point?

We cover all of Crown Point — from the blocks around Gage Park down through the Ottawa Street corridor and the residential streets between Kenilworth and the Kenilworth Access. Wherever you are in the neighbourhood, we’ve got you covered.

Reasons to join our team and earn a good income

WE WORK HARD TO SUPPORT OUR DOG WALKERS, AND PET & HOUSE SITTERS

  • Work with us as one of our sub-contractors by driving to the homes of our clients to provide dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services.

  • The amount of work depends on the number of requests we receive from clients for our services, and that number keeps on growing as more and more pet parents and home owners learn of our services.

  • We diligently maintain our website and routinely work to ensure strong Web Search Engine Optimization so that our website appears top-most on web pages for search results.

  • Requests for our services come from clients who come to our website and submit quote or reservation requests. We then assign the work directly to you.

  • All work is paid, and we pay one of the pet care industry’s best rates for walking dogs, pet sitting, and house sitting.

  • No purchase of any “kit” is required to work for us. We do not charge any fee as a condition of working with us. We are not a pyramid-type organization.

  • There is much flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work is done, as long as the needs of our clients and their pets are met, and as long as what is paid for is done (we guarantee the duration of each visit, and that the visit will take place). Most clients are easy going about the services they need. Some clients are more specific; e.g. if their pet needs medication.

  • Aside from a computer with internet access, cell phone, and a vehicle that you need to work with us, we provide everything else you need to do the work, and for free: our admin software tool, access to our database, personalized email address, your insurance coverage and bonding, all the necessary printed materials, a professional binder for all documents, 4 handbooks covering medical care, procedures, and policies topics, and brochures/posters for networking.

  • We generally sponsor one major pet-related event annually; e.g. Pet Expo, and expect you will attend with us.

  • We put you in touch with new clients after they accept our quotes or existing clients after they reserve our services. Essentially, we pre-screen each assignment request to ensure it is valid before asking you to decide whether or not you want to take it on.

  • You can reduce your taxable income on your annual income tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency by claiming eligible expenses for working as a sub-contractor, for using space where you live for office / admin work, and for using your vehicle for work.
  • We provide service every day of the year, especially on weekends and holidays when people tend to go away, and we pay 1.5X the normal rate for work done on a holiday.

  • You will interact with kind, animal-loving people who will appreciate and welcome the services you will provide, and who will trust you with their homes, belongings and their living pet(s).

  • You will have a territory and only be expected to drive to the homes of clients who live within typically 15-km from your home. We pay extra if you need to drive further (unless you agree to a larger territory when you join our team).

  • Walking dogs leads to getting exercise and the fresh are is as good for you as it is for the dogs; count on your health improving and not being stuck in a windowless office cubicle.

  • You will be pleasantly greeted at front doors by many pets that will be happy to see you and to also give you lots of unconditional love, affection and attention in return for just enough simple food and water, and all the play time and TLC you can afford.

  • You will experience improvements to your stress levels … numerous studies show that spending time with animals is relaxing and beneficial to human health.

  • You will learn about pet health and what it takes to become one of the region’s most respected, professional pet sitters.

  • You will have the opportunity to grow with us … we are increasingly called upon for our dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services. We provided our services to thousands of clients in the greater Ottawa region since 2005 and in Mississauga since 2012. Our goal is to reach more and more communities as we move forward.

  • We work on a very personalized level and are always available. We answer questions and solve problems quickly, and we invite suggestions for change and improvement regularly.

  • We have clear and concise policies and procedures so you will never have to guess about what you should or should not do.

  • We provide 4 detailed Orientation, Emergency, Procedures, and Policies Handbooks. Job shadowing and we continues with on-the-job coaching and accessibility.

  • We provide continuing education opportunities relating to all areas of the pet care industry.

If you love interacting with and giving care to animals …
we and our clients … and their pets … can’t wait to hear from you.
