I have been an animal lover from an early age, and have had numerous pets. My animals included the very small, like gerbils and hamsters, to the usual childhood favourites, like cats and dogs. When I was a teenager, I had more exotic pets such as lizards, snakes, scorpions, and tarantulas. You can say I love anything that walks, crawls, or slithers.
I have adopted two cats named Cedar and Cobalt from the Ottawa Humane Society. My cats are both unique in their own ways. Cobalt is the “social butterfly” who will greet all strangers into the house by approaching them, and falling to his side and at their feet so they can tickle him. Cedar, on the other hand, is the “nervous cat” who cannot run away fast enough to hide until strangers have left. He will “check them out” when he doesn’t think they know he’s there, but will eventually warm up to them. I have had them since 2004 and, before then, forgot how much I enjoyed having pets in my life. It’s like having your own personal greeters to welcome you home!
I spent a lot of time indoors and outdoors with renovations to my home, and landscaping my yard. It’s rewarding to see all the projects one has completed and being able to enjoy the results.
I worked in the technical industry for a number of years at JDS Uniphase until the huge layoffs occurred at the company. That’s when I decided to go back to school at Algonquin College and obtain my Veterinary Assistant Certificate. With my background and knowledge caring for various animals, I know that my experience will be an asset to any pet’s needs. Rest assured that I will care for your pet(s) as though they were my own!
I feel honoured to be on the Loving Paws & House Sitting team and I look forward to meeting you, and to caring for your pet(s).
