Cat Sitting Service in Hamilton | Your Trusted Cat Sitter

Hamilton cats need more than just feeding when you’re away, but boarding facilities disrupt their routine and trigger anxiety. Since 2005, Loving Paws has provided professional in-home cat sitting across Hamilton from Westdale heritage homes to Stoney Creek waterfront condos, keeping your cat comfortable in their own territory while you handle work commitments, family travel, or extended vacations.

Trusted Hamilton In-Home Sitting

Our in-home cat sitters keep them anchored in their environment, that sunny windowsill overlooking Cootes Paradise, the favorite perch watching birds near the Dundas Valley trails, the cozy spot beside your radiator in a Glanbrook farmhouse.

Same cat sitter, Every Visit

Your cat doesn’t meet a different stranger each time. We assign one dedicated sitter who learns your cat’s personality, preferences, and quirks. They become the familiar face your cat associates with feeding time and play sessions.

Expert Medical Support

Certified sitters manage medications, chronic conditions, and post-surgery care with precise monitoring. Our caregivers document every medication dose, observe for adverse reactions, recognize distress signals early, and reach out immediately when concerns surface.

Why Hamilton Cats Thrive With In-Home Sitting

Cats are territorial creatures who experience stress when removed from familiar surroundings. The carrier, the drive through Mountain traffic, the strange smells at a boarding facility, these aren’t minor inconveniences. They trigger anxiety that can last for days after you return.

Our approach keeps your cat maintaining their established sleep schedule, continues eating from their regular bowls in familiar locations, uses their own litter boxes, and experiences minimal disruption to daily patterns. For anxious cats, rescue cats from Hamilton Animal Services, or seniors with medical needs, this consistency proves essential for their well-being.

What Happens During Each Hamilton Visit

Feeding and Fresh Water: We follow your exact specifications. Wet food served at room temperature or gently warmed, dry food measured precisely, supplements or medications mixed thoroughly, and fresh water in clean bowls.

Litter Box Maintenance: We scoop all boxes during every single visit. Multiple cats require multiple boxes, and we maintain all of them meticulously. We add fresh litter as needed, wipe surrounding areas, and check for tracking issues that might indicate litter preference problems.

Health Monitoring and Documentation: We observe carefully for illness or distress indicators. For serious emergencies, we’re authorized to transport your cat to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic or your designated animal hospital.

Medication Administration: Pills concealed in treats or administered directly, liquid medications by dropper, insulin injections for diabetic cats, eye drops for infections, and ear medication for mites. We manage everything with patience and positive reinforcement techniques.

Companionship and Interactive Play Social cats receive quality engagement. We play until they’re genuinely tired, brush long-haired cats to prevent mat formation, provide lap time for cuddlers, or simply sit nearby reading while your cat observes from their favorite Corktown armchair.

Home Security Maintenance: We collect mail and packages, water plants, adjust blinds to simulate occupancy patterns, and report any maintenance concerns requiring your attention.

Specialized Care for Hamilton Cats With Unique Needs

Shy and Anxious Cats: Some cats remain hidden the entire time owners travel. We never force interaction. We speak softly, move deliberately, position food and water accessibly, keep litter boxes immaculate, and provide respectful space.

Senior Cats Requiring Medical Monitoring: Older cats managing arthritis, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes demand attentive observation. We monitor appetite changes, litter box habits, energy levels, and mobility patterns. Early detection prevents medical emergencies from escalating.

Multi-Cat Households: Homes with multiple cats require managing individual feeding schedules, monitoring social hierarchies, and ensuring each cat receives appropriate attention. We recognize which Waterdown cat craves extended play sessions and which prefers solitary quiet time.

Post-Surgery Recovery Care: Cats recovering from spay/neuter procedures, dental extractions, growth removals, or orthopedic repairs need restricted activity supervision. We ensure they’re not jumping on furniture in your Stoney Creek condo, inspect incision sites for swelling or discharge, administer prescribed pain medication on schedule, and provide the calm companionship that supports healing.

Common Questions From Hamilton Cat Owners

How much does cat sitting cost in Hamilton? Basic visits start at $16.50 for 15 minutes, $22 for 30-minute visits, extending to $38.50 for 60-minute sessions. Medical care visits range from $22 to $44, depending on duration. Multi-cat households receive discounted additional cat rates. Daily packages reduce per-visit costs significantly more affordable than boarding facilities and infinitely less stressful for your cats.

Will my cat accept a stranger in their territory? Most cats adjust within 2-3 visits. We move at their pace, never forcing interaction or invading their space. Shy cats might hide initially, but typically warm up when they recognize that we bring food, maintain clean litter, and don’t disrupt their environment. Social cats often greet us enthusiastically at the door on the second visit.

What if my cat requires medication? We administer all types of oral pills, liquid medications, insulin injections, topical treatments, eye drops, and ear medications. We follow veterinary instructions precisely, document each dose with timestamps, and monitor for adverse reactions.

Do you care for multiple cats? Absolutely. We’ve successfully managed households with five or more cats throughout Hamilton. We coordinate individual feeding requirements, monitor social dynamics and territorial behaviors, ensure each cat receives appropriate attention, and maintain multiple litter boxes.

What happens during emergencies? We’re trained in recognizing veterinary emergencies and authorized to transport your cat to medical care when necessary. We contact you immediately when concerns develop and follow your pre-authorized emergency instructions.

Will you send updates? Every visit includes photos and detailed e-diary notes documenting your cat’s activities, eating habits, litter box use, behavior observations, and mood. You’ll see visual proof they’re well-cared-for, know exactly what they ate, see clean litter boxes, and read behavioral observations.

What about litter box problems? We monitor closely for abnormalities. If your cat stops using the box, develops diarrhea, shows blood in urine, or displays unusual litter box behaviors, we document everything and report immediately. These symptoms often indicate urinary tract infections, digestive issues, or other medical conditions requiring prompt veterinary attention.

Reasons to join our team and earn a good income

WE WORK HARD TO SUPPORT OUR DOG WALKERS, AND PET & HOUSE SITTERS

  • Work with us as one of our sub-contractors by driving to the homes of our clients to provide dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services.

  • The amount of work depends on the number of requests we receive from clients for our services, and that number keeps on growing as more and more pet parents and home owners learn of our services.

  • We diligently maintain our website and routinely work to ensure strong Web Search Engine Optimization so that our website appears top-most on web pages for search results.

  • Requests for our services come from clients who come to our website and submit quote or reservation requests. We then assign the work directly to you.

  • All work is paid, and we pay one of the pet care industry’s best rates for walking dogs, pet sitting, and house sitting.

  • No purchase of any “kit” is required to work for us. We do not charge any fee as a condition of working with us. We are not a pyramid-type organization.

  • There is much flexibility in terms of where, when, and how work is done, as long as the needs of our clients and their pets are met, and as long as what is paid for is done (we guarantee the duration of each visit, and that the visit will take place). Most clients are easy going about the services they need. Some clients are more specific; e.g. if their pet needs medication.

  • Aside from a computer with internet access, cell phone, and a vehicle that you need to work with us, we provide everything else you need to do the work, and for free: our admin software tool, access to our database, personalized email address, your insurance coverage and bonding, all the necessary printed materials, a professional binder for all documents, 4 handbooks covering medical care, procedures, and policies topics, and brochures/posters for networking.

  • We generally sponsor one major pet-related event annually; e.g. Pet Expo, and expect you will attend with us.

  • We put you in touch with new clients after they accept our quotes or existing clients after they reserve our services. Essentially, we pre-screen each assignment request to ensure it is valid before asking you to decide whether or not you want to take it on.

  • You can reduce your taxable income on your annual income tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency by claiming eligible expenses for working as a sub-contractor, for using space where you live for office / admin work, and for using your vehicle for work.
  • We provide service every day of the year, especially on weekends and holidays when people tend to go away, and we pay 1.5X the normal rate for work done on a holiday.

  • You will interact with kind, animal-loving people who will appreciate and welcome the services you will provide, and who will trust you with their homes, belongings and their living pet(s).

  • You will have a territory and only be expected to drive to the homes of clients who live within typically 15-km from your home. We pay extra if you need to drive further (unless you agree to a larger territory when you join our team).

  • Walking dogs leads to getting exercise and the fresh are is as good for you as it is for the dogs; count on your health improving and not being stuck in a windowless office cubicle.

  • You will be pleasantly greeted at front doors by many pets that will be happy to see you and to also give you lots of unconditional love, affection and attention in return for just enough simple food and water, and all the play time and TLC you can afford.

  • You will experience improvements to your stress levels … numerous studies show that spending time with animals is relaxing and beneficial to human health.

  • You will learn about pet health and what it takes to become one of the region’s most respected, professional pet sitters.

  • You will have the opportunity to grow with us … we are increasingly called upon for our dog walking, pet sitting, medical care, and house sitting services. We provided our services to thousands of clients in the greater Ottawa region since 2005 and in Mississauga since 2012. Our goal is to reach more and more communities as we move forward.

  • We work on a very personalized level and are always available. We answer questions and solve problems quickly, and we invite suggestions for change and improvement regularly.

  • We have clear and concise policies and procedures so you will never have to guess about what you should or should not do.

  • We provide 4 detailed Orientation, Emergency, Procedures, and Policies Handbooks. Job shadowing and we continues with on-the-job coaching and accessibility.

  • We provide continuing education opportunities relating to all areas of the pet care industry.

If you love interacting with and giving care to animals …
we and our clients … and their pets … can’t wait to hear from you.
