Dawn
Hello, my name is Dawn and I joined the Loving Paws & House Sitting team in June 2015.

I have always grown up around animals, having dogs and cats in the house, from the time I was born. During my childhood, Iíve had the pleasure of owning rabbits, birds, and even a chinchilla Ė though that was a long time ago! When I moved to Ottawa at nine years old, my parents also started me in horseback riding and I have been at it ever since.

Now, I live on a small hobby farm with my parents while I finish my schooling and we have two dogs, four cats, thirty fish (which will likely increase as I save to upgrade to bigger tanks!), and five horses. It a very full house! A number of our animals are also rescues, including a dog and cat from the humane society, a kitten who we believe has Downís syndrome or some other type of genetic disease and who was dropped off on our property last fall, and a horse who was bound for slaughter and had a deep seeded distrust of men. Itís so rewarding to take in an animal who has had a hard time in life and give them a second chance, and in that time to see them grow and flourish and become so different and filled with a life they never had before.

I joined Loving Paws as way to enjoy my part-time work while continuing my education with the goal of going into teaching. Itís a long road ahead, but I hope to be with Loving Paws for many more years until Iím ready to take the patience I learned with animals into the classroom for my future students. .
